Debra J. Knox, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Human Resources from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. My training has been in family, couples and individual counseling. I am a Certified Grief Recovery® Specialist, and I have also been trained in Sand Tray therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Professionally, I began with a focus on divorce and blended family issues. I have extensive experience working with and mentoring divorcing families on co-parenting issues, child behavioral problems, and relationship difficulties. Through a series of personal losses involving family and friends I became aware of the great need for grief counselors. At that time, I broadened my education and training to include learning how to address the difficult issues of illness, death, and bereavement. Now, I consider it an honor to walk alongside and assist those who are on their own unique journey of grieving a loss.
I am an active member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and of the Connecticut chapter of Marriage and Family Therapists.
